Audreal Gillett

Hi my name is Audreal Gillett. I am a San Diego native. I’ve been singing since I was a child, starting off in a gospel church at the age of 10, and haven’t stopped since. I’ve been playing the guitar and songwriting since I was 13. I spent sometime in Boston studying music and performing. Currently I’m working on my own music as well as performing in a band named Soul Sweetener. Music is really important and hold near and dear to my heart.

I was born and raised in the bay area and started playing drums at 9 years old.  My early influences include Led Zeppelin, Fishbone, Grateful Dead, Metallica and the Beatles.  I played in school bands, had a band of my own, and also played in a music school rock band.  I studied music at San Rafael High School, playing in many school bands.  I got really serious about practicing in high school, and would often practice 3-4 hours per day.  Through these years my life was all about music, surfing and skateboarding.  My junior year of high school I won a scholarship to attend Berklee College of Music for a summer intensive semester in 1993.  This was an important turning point in my life as it was there I realized that I could pursue music professionally.
I moved to San Diego in 1994 to start my music degree at SDSU.  As a music major, I studied Classical, Jazz, World, and Percussion based music.  Through my college years I played lots of gigs all over the U.S.  Things started to really pick up quickly and I toured the States and Mexico with The B-Side Players.  I graduated from SDSU in 2000 with a BA in Music.
In 2003, I was invited to join Slightly Stoopid.  We have toured very consistently ever since.  We have 10 studio albums, a couple live albums, and a large fan base all over the world.  I am still a full-time member of the band, and have really enjoyed the ride.  We have been to just about every city U.S., Japan, Australia, Brazil and all over Europe.
I am married with two beautiful daughters and live in the La Costa area of Carlsbad.
I am happy to be involved with the Rios Music Project.  I have been a family friend of Julie Chambers since childhood.  She has created something special for the kids, to show them the many benefits of musical study with a smile!  Music has been a huge part of my life and I'm glad that I can share my knowledge with the kids in a positive environment.

Hi! My name is Kevin Erskine and I am a singer-songwriter from San Diego whose music is a folk/jazz blend of heartfelt lyrics and infectious melodies. He joined his first surf rock band at age 12, which he devoted himself to when he wasn’t out surfing. He played in rock bands all through college and performed at historic venues throughout Hollywood.

Jaime played professionally as a “hired gun” for Connoisseur Records from 1999-2002. In 2003 he settled down with his wife Julie whom he studied profusely under.  He started teaching along side Julie as they started the RIOS Music Project in Solana Beach, Ca. He now enjoys teaching 1 to 1 guitar, bass, piano, ukulele and songwriting lessons at their Carlsbad studio.
